Preparing for School Emergencies

Supporting schools to prepare for emergencies through high-quality training and support from experienced professionals.

The London Borough of Lewisham’s Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Service is pleased to offer this new Service Level Agreement (SLA) to schools and other education settings in the Borough.

The Preparing for School Emergencies SLA provides schools with access to expert advice and guidance through a tailored workshop to support schools develop arrangements for preparing for and managing the impacts of a range of emergencies at school and on school visits.

All Lewisham maintained schools currently benefit from a template Emergency and Business Continuity Plan at no charge.

As part of this service, schools will receive:

  • Pre-workshop assessment of the schools level of resilience to inform a tailored workshop
  • 2 1/2 hours delivered on-site by experienced professionals
  • Post-workshop report documenting learning and recommendations
  • Following-term 1 hour virtual follow-up

Once this package has been purchased, the school will be contacted to book the tailored workshop elements.  If a school does not take up these bookings in the financial year applicable to the purchased package they are still liable to pay for the service.
